The Vain Destroyer

from When Will You Die? by NCN

/

about

Vanity (as the flip-side of vampirism's mirror avoidance) gives way to paranoia in this track. This track starts off with ToToM's mashup 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer Freaks Out'; We hear part of a cover of Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" by The Odd Couple (Jack Klugman and Tony Randall). We hear parts of John Oswald's Plunderphonic piece 'Vane' in this mix (suggested by TradeMark Gunderson of ECC for this mix. This segues into Marilyn Manson's version of the song (partial) and then we hear the reference to the song in the bridge of Nine Inch Nail's 'Starfuckers Inc.', this changes into 'The Great Destroyer' by Nine Inch Nails (partial) and this becomes part of the mashup 'The Great Paranoid' with ToToM (book-ending the track) adding Black Sabbath's 'Paranoid' into the mix.
