about

This song is by Vince Ewing and is called 'The World You Left Behind'. Phineas remixed it a bit adding samples from George Carlin from his album 'Back in Town' (1996) and the movie 'The Breakfast Club' (1985). Vince has given the resultant piece his blessing.

lyrics

(original lyrics by Vince Ewing) - These lyrics below do not include the samples used in the song, but are the words Vince sings:

All the wasted youth
and all the unwise men
couldn't put our city
back together again

And the parents don't care
and the teachers don't care
turns these busy streets
into the middle of nowhere

and the world that you left behind
is a burning ball of shit
and so your kids are sitting on their hands
wondering what to do with it

It's so hard to find a silver lining
To hold your head high
when there ain't nobody smiling
and I can't walk
down these streets anymore
and I've worn out my welcome
but I don't know what for

Are the times coming to an end
or am I just insane?

Why does the world seem crazier every day?
Why does the world seem crazier every day?

We lost ourselves in greed
and there ain't no road back home
misery has her company
yet the artist sleeps alone
and the fields have flooded over
and paradise is burnin'
and we can't ourselves
with all the things that we aren't learning

And are the times coming to and end
or am I just insane?

Why does the world seem crazier every day?
Why does the world seem crazier every day?

We've built our machines
and then they ate our dinner
We've turned clowns into kings
the biggest crown a winner

Now the kids can't hardly read
or even write a letter
I guess the good life on its own
can't teach us to be better

And are the times coming to an end
or am I just insane?

Why does the world seem crazier every day?
Why does the world seem crazier every day?
Why does the world seem crazier every day?
