Deconstructing Pi

from Imperfect Patterns by NCN

/

about

Over music that NCN created, a lecturer demonstrates how a precise number based on the number pi can be calculated from a randomized experience. The experiment from which this is derived is called Buffon's Baguettes whereby he calculated the probability of a randomly thrown baguette of a certain length crossing a certain length's line on the floor to a precise factor of pi, which becomes more precise the more baguettes (or 'needles' are thrown).

This program was originally created for the 'Needle in the Red' series (which was partially hosted at KFJC) and so this experiment based on calculating the probability of a randomly thrown needle 'crossing the line' is relevant to the title of the series.

This program is meant to be heard in its entirety. Some tracks might not be available as separate downloads and are considered integral parts of the whole.
