about

From our program 'Beyond Normal' which was originally webcast on August 20th, 2017. NCN chronicles the Charlottesville clash between alt-right and anti-fa forces in Charlottesville at the 'Unite the Right' protests that took place August 11-12, 2017 and which resulted in the deaths of several people as well as the political fallout from the event. We hear the Godfathers' song 'Birth, School, Work, Death' (telescoped and remixed) ... this transitions to a George Thorogood cover of 'Trouble Every Day' (telescoped) originally by Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention from their album 'Freak Out'. George Carlin talks about nationalism over a sped-up version of Beethoven (artist unknown). This segues into collage material by Super Deluxe featuring Trump and Kanye West and the ever-present air-horn. A long piece by NCN mashing up a tinny news segment with Spongebob Squarepants and Trump intermittently intoning 'Wrong!' as well as audio from an early 2017 Trump press conference. This is followed by a second 90s era emo rock style treatment of Trump tweets by Super Deluxe. We hear a Trump remix of 'Easy to be Hard' from the soundtrack to the movie 'Hair' (1979) and audio from the Trump press conference after the protest clash mixed with audio of the protests being talked about. In the background, very faintly, can be heard the song 'Anti-Fa' by Ministry, released in 2017. This segment has been remixed a bit since the original broadcast.
