about

A radio serial clip about 'Don' over dramatic music. The disclaimer is played. A Call from Adrian. Clips of a phone exorcism taking place on a Christian radio show. Chanters from the Army of God(?) are heard cursing various record companies and recording artists with dramatic music in the background. A backwards masking expert speaks, with a phase effect, over this with demonic chanting in the mix. The Weatherman calls as 'Sewerage Water'. Phineas Narco calls. The backwards masking expert plays a clip from Empty Spaces by Pink Floyd from The Wall. He plays a clip from ELO's 'Eldorado' and a clip from Prince's 'Darling Nikki' both forwards and backwards. Don plays a sample over this: "Go Mongo" and effects are added. We hear more of the radio exorcism. Calls are taken live on the air. Army of God chanting again with a pounding rhythmic bed of music and strange singing in the background. The Weatherman calls back and declares 'Sewerage Water'. We hear more of the (rather silly) exorcism over music and sound effects. The backmasking expert speculates on artists' motivations for backwards masking. A modified clip from the song 'Devil in Her Heart' by The Beatles is heard as well as samples from the Negativland Helter Stupid cd release. A news story on the Judas Priest 'suicide music' case that went on trial in the 80's. The Weatherman calls back. Adrian calls back and freeform raps. Don plays a 'kill' sample over this. Phineas calls and talks in a strange, improvised tongue. Don adds effects and music to this. Phineas is faded out and hangs up. More samples are played. The Backwards Masking expert talks about the Beatles' Revolution No. 9. More calls including Phineas imitating Danny from The Shining. Electronic music is played mixed with: A man calling in and reads a written piece and someone imitating William S. Burroughs. Etc. Portions of the 'monstrous joke' radio serial source are heard. The background music changes and more calls are taken including those from The Weatherman and Adrian.
