about

Structurally, this is a 'weave' or an editorial inter-cutting of commentary by late night talk show hosts Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert and briefly, Jimmy Fallon, about The New York Times' then-recent expose' (in late September, 2020) on their acquired info about President Trump's tax returns for the past 20 years.

Since the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election, Trump has always been elusive when it came to producing his tax returns for public perusal (such disclosure was standard practice for somebody running for President at the time). Now, it seems that the reason seemed to be that Trump's returns either show that he is either an egregious tax cheat (Trump is, at the time of this writing under audit by the IRS which, if he loses, could earn him a tax bill of over 100 million dollars) or else totally contradict his much-touted image of himself as brilliant billionaire, because not only is he basically broke, he has debts that exceed 400 million dollars. As Colbert points out, having excessive debt is grounds for being denied a high-level government security clearance.

With supporting clips, Meyers explains how the tax system is rigged to protect and enable crooks like Trump who is desperate to stay in power order to rig it even more.

The piece is augmented and re-mixed with bass line, guitar riffs, and backing music tracks from The Beatles song, Taxman.
