Two Minute Hate

from The 1984 Remix Project by NCN

/

about

An excerpt of a humorous rap song '1984 Rap Battle: Big Brother vs. Emmanuel Goldstein' by Eric Gift is heard at the beginning of this track.

The video for this song can be found here:

The Two Minute Hate is a timed daily ritual amongst workers in which they are whipped up to a nationalistic fervor by projected images of the party's enemies. We hear the sound from the Two Minute Hate in the background as, in the foreground, we hear the description of the Two Minute Hate in the 1984 Audiobook.

Mixed in over this, we hear Marilyn Manson' 'Irresponsible Hate Anthem' (Venus Head Trap Mix) and the opening vamp from 'Who are the Thought Police mixed in with the hymn heard at the beginning of this program, from the 1984 movie '1984'. The vamp from 'Who Are the Thought Police' from the Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention album 'Freak Out' becomes more prevalent and louder, as the song itself takes over. We hear part of it. Abruptly, the narrator comes back in and talks about whether the resistance to the party (the brotherhood) exists. We hear the latter part of the Zappa and Mothers song again in the background, in reprise.
