about

DETAILS ABOUT THIS TRACK:

This is a remix / redux / mashup / sendup of the song 'Waiting For The Worms' done by The National Cynical Network called 'Waiting For The Words'. The original version of this song is by the psychedelic/Progressive band Pink Floyd off of their iconic, seminal 1979 rock opera double-album, 'The Wall'.

The song describes a fascistic demagogue using his popular starpower in order to whip up the passions of a mob to do his violent bidding and exact his cruel will upon the surrounding populace.

Here, we 'mash-up' or 'remix' this song with sounds of the January 6th, 2021 riot at Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. instigated by President Donald Trump, his son, and his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani.

The original version of this remix, scarcely more than a 'demo tape' compared to this far more developed version, was first heard on NCN's album, 'Agent of Chaos' which came out shortly after the January 6th riot in 2021. It is here:

This version is far more nuanced and developed than the earlier one, having been worked on, off and on obviously, for almost a year and a half's time. Some of the crowd footage used was released only in the January 6th hearings and had never been seen before that time.

To around the 2:14 mark, much of the (except for the 'inside the bunker' sequence) comes from a similar version of this mashup/treatment, not done by NCN. The words said by Trump up to this time in the track, it should be noted, were NOT said at the Jan. 6 event.

The goal of the project overall is in part journalistic, documentative and research-oriented, but it also largely artistic in its intent and execution.

Therefore, some of the events depicted may be, in addition to being (obviously) editorialized and remixed, may also be out of sequence to how they actually occured and anachronistic samples may be used for effect.

Overall, this work can be considered a dramatic interpretation of the events it describes. Please do not hesitate to do your own research if you have any doubts as to the facts of this case.

Trivia: If you listen to it in the right way, the crowd in the background seems to be chanting 'MAGA! MAGA! MAGA!' over and over. In the original track, and here, they are actually chanting the word 'HAMMER!' repeatedly.

When creating this track, I actually had something of an hallucinatory experience. I actually heard the lyric upon playback 'You can't impeach me now / No matter how you try'. The actual lyric, which was actually THERE when I rewound it and listened to it again was, 'You cannot reach me now / no matter how you try'. Weird.

Check out the track before this in the playlist for our 'Jan6' version of 'Run Like Hell' called 'Fight Like Hell'.
