From a Dead Man

from The 1984 Remix Project by NCN

/

about

From the 1984 film, 1984--John Hurt narrates the opening words of Winston Smith's journal. We hear an ominous confession by a prisoner over his telescreen in the background.

We hear the telescreen local alarm to wake, and Winston wakes up the next day. Winston is scolded by the exercise instructor on the telescreen for not trying hard enough. This crossfades to an excerpt from 1984 the audiobook version of the story representing the same scene and then the narrative relates a flashback Winston has to his childhood.

We hear Eurythmics' 'Greetings From A Dead Man' in the background which continues on into the next track.
