about

From a 5-hour live mix done by Phineas Narco and Don Joyce of Negativland for Negativland's radio show 'Over the Edge'.

The opening of a live version of 'Trouble Every Day' is intercut with other effects, samples and music. A comedy sketch with a version of The Mothers of Invention segues into, and is mixed with, Roy Estrada singing. There is lots of air around the notes. Part of 'Let's Make the Water Turn Black' can be heard, at one point. Simpson's creator Matt Groening talks about 'Freak Out' briefly intercut with the Zappa expert and 'Help I'm a Rock' and clips of other songs.

'Help, I'm a Rock' is played on, amidst various samples.

During this, Don plays the Universal Media Netweb I.D. spot. and... musical Freak Out!! segues into 'It Can't Happen Here'. This is mixed with 'The Return of the Son of Monster Magnet" both from the album 'Freak Out'. Another Zappa piece is played simultaneously with this softly underneath this mix, with other foreground samples. This builds to a climax and abruptly ends.
